Intermittent Fasting

Is it safe to fast after surgery?

Yes. If you’re going to have surgery and you have the ability to prepare for it, it may be best to start intermittent fasting 2 weeks beforehand. This way, you’re fully adapted to fat-burning and you can go into the surgery without any problems with blood sugars.

Right after the surgery you may want to do a more prolonged fast (at least 48 hours).

During your fast it may be best to take certain nutrients, such as:

  • Sea salt

  • Electrolytes

  • B vitamins

  • Amino acids

  • Vitamin D
