How do Omega-6 fatty acids cause clogged arteries?

Omega-6 Fatty acids, as contained in certain oils, can cause inflammation across the body and eventually result in clogged arteries. You should avoid these fatty acids while substituting omega-3 fatty acids that have anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Avoid the following (which contain omega-6):

    • poultry

    • nuts

    • grains

    • pumpkin seeds

    • flax oil

    • sunflower oil

    • cottonseed oil

    • safflower oil

    • vegetable oil

    • canola oil

    • corn oil

    • grain-fed dairy

    • GMO oils

Substitute with the following (which contain omega-3):

  • high-quality fish oil

  • virgin cod liver oil

  • sardines

  • fish

  • anchovies

  • eggs

  • grass-fed products

As an exception, these omega-6 oils can actually help with clogged arteries:

  • borage oil

  • black currant seed oil

  • evening primrose oil
