How to prevent afternoon blood sugar crash?

This can happen late morning too, but mainly in the mid-afternoon (3:30-4:30 pm). It can also cause you to graze late at night. Now, if you do not understand blood sugars, and that the person with low blood sugar actually has insulin resistance making it difficult to go longer than a few hours with food, you can easily make the wrong choices by giving in to this hunger and snacking frequently between the meals. Because it feels good and reduces your low blood sugar symptoms, you will feel it's the right thing to do, however, you will continue to make this problem worse over time if you continue this. Why? Because you're not looking at the big picture.

Every time you eat, you spike insulin "regardless of what you eat". The more you eat between meals, the more you spike insulin, which then triggers a lowering of your blood sugar. This lowered blood sugar keeps this cycle going again and again creating more insulin resistance.

The thing to do is prevent blood sugar crashes by:

-adding fat to the meal.

-adding moderate protein to the meal

-adding lots of greens to the meal and

-keep your carbs low

-AND DO NOT GIVE INTO SNACKS.
