What are the benefits of grapefruit seed extract?

Grapefruit seed extract is made from the seeds of grapefruit. It is used as a natural remedy for a number of health problems, including infections and other skin concerns. Let’s take a look at what it is good for.

  • Antibacterial

  • Antifungal

  • Anti Mold

  • Counters mycotoxins (toxins from mold and fungus)

  • Good temporary treatment for tinea versicolor (white/lighter spots on the skin, mainly on the chest and back)

  • Helps with joint pain

Side effect

Although this may not apply to grapefruit seed extract, there is one problem with grapefruit. There are enzymes in the liver that usually metabolize the majority of medications in the body. But a certain chemical in grapefruit can inhibit this function, causing an elevated concentration and accumulation of the medication. In fact, taking certain medications while consuming just one grapefruit or a 7 oz glass of grapefruit juice could potentially lead to an overdose of the medications you take. Check with your doctor for more information regarding this, if you are taking medications.

How to treat tinea versicolor with grapefruit seed extract

You should know that using grapefruit seed extract on tinea versicolor would be a temporary treatment while you handle the root cause of this condition. Do this remedy while getting your diet right and supporting your digestive system. For the temporary treatment, mix the following together:

3 drops oregano oil

3 drops grapefruit seed extract

1 tsp coconut oil

3 drops apple cider vinegar

After mixing these ingredients, rub this mixture onto the skin; it will target the unfriendly microbes, but it will not remove friendly microbes
