Understanding Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin)

Methylcobalamin, a form of vitamin B12, is crucial for your body. It supports DNA production, red blood cell formation, nerve health, and your brain and spinal cord. A deficiency can lead to:

  • Tingling, numbness, or burning sensations

  • Chronic pain

  • Depression

  • Muscle weakness

  • Blurry vision, tinnitus

  • Anemia, mouth ulcers, sore throat, hair loss

Important Note: While excess B12 is rare, it's usually linked to cyanocobalamin (a synthetic form), not methylcobalamin. Symptoms might include acne, palpitations, anxiety, and others.

B12 deficiency can develop silently, causing damage before obvious symptoms like extreme fatigue appear. Since animal products are the main dietary sources, certain factors increase your risk:
