What is a CAC test?

A Coronary Artery Calcification (CAC) test is a non-invasive imaging scan, typically performed using a CT scan, to assess the amount of calcium in the coronary arteries. Calcium buildup in these arteries can indicate increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The test provides a score that helps evaluate the extent of calcification, with higher scores suggesting greater risk.
