What's the cause for left-side abdominal pain and how can I remedy it?

Left-side abdominal pain, pancreas issue

If you feel pain in the left side of your abdomen, this usually means that there is a problem with the pancreas. The pancreas is connected with the left side of the abdomen through a specific nerve. Therefore if you have pains in the middle-left or top-left sides of your body this can be rooted in pancreatic issues.

There are two main functions of the pancreas:

  • One of them has to do with generating hormones like insulin. Eating carbs and eating in general will demand insulin production from the pancreas, therefore if your body pumps out too much of it (over a long period of time), it will eventually cause the pancreas to overwork, resulting in abdominal pain.

  • Another function has to do with generating enzymes (substances that help you digest) for use in your stomach and other body parts. If you often eat processed food, junk or cooked food that doesn’t have enzymes, it can overwork the pancreas, causing pain.

  • Avoid alcohol

  • If you take certain medications that may have side effect of abdominal pain, consult with your doctor

  • Too much calcium can cause issues with the pancreas
