Why is Dr. Berg’s powdered cod liver oil capsule no longer available?

The powdered Cod Liver Oil Capsule product was made by spraying cod liver oil onto acacia gum, forming a clean powder that can be encapsulated. Another industry method is to spray oil onto maltodextrin, but Dr. Berg refuses to use maltodextrin under any circumstances.

When the original manufacturer that produced the acacia gum version was acquired, the new ownership decided not to continue making a cod liver oil powder with acacia gum. Because we could not preserve the integrity of that clean formulation, the powdered capsule was discontinued.

To maintain his standards, Dr. Berg created a soft gel made from wild-caught cod liver oil, providing purity, quality, and omega-3s without compromise.
